About YourPayUK
Most UK pay and tax calculators are built for employers, accountants or payroll teams. YourPayUK was built the other way round — for the person actually checking their own pay.
Why we built this
Working out pro rata pay, National Insurance, or what a dividend actually gets taxed at shouldn’t require a spreadsheet or a call to HR. We wanted a place where anyone could enter their numbers and get a clear, plain-English answer — with the working shown, not just a single figure with no explanation.
What we do
Every calculator on this site is free to use, requires no account or sign-up, and is built around current UK tax year rates and thresholds. We cover pay and contracts, tax and National Insurance, and statutory and minimum pay — the calculations people actually need day to day, whether that’s checking a job offer, working out sick pay, or seeing what a pay rise really means after tax.
Keeping things accurate
UK tax and payroll rates change every tax year. We review our calculators and formulas against official UK government information, and note our assumptions clearly on each page so you know exactly what’s being calculated and what isn’t.
That said, every calculator on this site gives an estimate, not a guarantee — individual circumstances, tax codes and personal deductions can all affect your actual figures. For anything with real financial consequences, we’d always recommend checking with HMRC or a qualified accountant.
