OUR APPROACH

Built for Real UK Pay Questions

YourPayUK is an independent set of UK pay and tax calculators. We’re not an accountancy firm, an umbrella company or a financial adviser — so there is nothing to buy and no sales call at the end of any calculation. Each calculator follows the same method: take the official 2026/27 rates, apply them step by step, and show the working so you can check it yourself.

These are estimates for planning, not personal advice. Tax rules have edge cases — reliefs, thresholds and individual circumstances can move the real figure — so for anything significant, check the calculator’s notes on what it doesn’t cover and talk to a qualified accountant or adviser.

UK Focused

Every calculator uses the current 2026/27 tax year thresholds and statutory rates.

Clear Results

See exactly how your result was worked out, not just a single number.

Reviewed Regularly

Rates and thresholds are checked against gov.uk whenever official figures change.

Questions

UK Pay & Tax Calculator FAQs

Find answers to common questions about UK salary, income tax, National Insurance, pro rata salary and statutory payments.

What is a UK salary calculator?

A UK salary calculator helps you estimate your take-home pay after income tax and National Insurance. Depending on the calculator, you may also be able to account for your salary, pay frequency, working hours and other deductions.

How is UK income tax calculated?

UK income tax is generally calculated based on your taxable income and the applicable tax allowances and rates. Your total tax can vary depending on your income, tax code and personal circumstances.

How does a National Insurance calculator work?

A National Insurance calculator estimates the National Insurance contributions that may apply to your earnings. The result can depend on your earnings, pay period and the current National Insurance thresholds and rates.

Can I compare inside vs outside IR35 pay?

Yes. Our inside IR35 calculator lets you compare take-home pay under both routes side by side – enter your day rate and working pattern to see the difference between PAYE/umbrella and limited company pay.

How do I calculate pro rata salary?

A pro rata salary calculator helps estimate the equivalent pay for someone working fewer hours than a full-time employee. It can be useful when calculating part-time salaries based on full-time salary and contracted working hours.

Are UK pay and tax calculator results accurate?

YourPayUK calculators are designed to provide useful estimates based on the information entered and applicable UK rules and rates. Results may differ from your actual pay or tax position because individual circumstances, tax codes, deductions and other factors can affect the final amount.

What are the current UK tax rates?

For 2026/27, the personal allowance is £12,570; income tax is 20% up to £50,270, 40% to £125,140, and 45% above. Employee National Insurance is 8% on earnings between £12,570 and £50,270 and 2% above that. Each calculator page lists the exact rates it uses, checked against official figures.

Do I need to create an account to use the calculators?

No. Every calculator on YourPayUK is free with no registration, no email and no download. Enter your figures, see the result and the working, and leave — nothing is stored.
